NECTAR. Food Sharing

Artistic, interactive and urban installation in the shape of a honeycomb, human scale, built to receive and donate food. Proposes free exchange of food. Also understood as a physical data visualization system. Two versions: analog and telematic. Analog version activates local communities and offers realtime perception of local habits. Telematic version adds to the local installation a system that collects data and offers asynchronous data visualization of community food culture. Size is adaptable, duration is variable, technology may be updated, materials include wooden boxes, acrylics, electronic devices, energy sources, among other details. Images show the prototype exhibited September-November 2024, at the National Museum of the Republic, Brasília, Brazil. The prototype had one module of the alveolus and the other modules were images created by using AI (Midjourney ai) printed over wall sticker. The work is accompanied by a simple algorithm based on a food pyramid relating types of food to colors. Each box has a button that allows the public to change the color of the light inside the module. The algorithm guides the interactive action, donating or retrieving the food, to or from the module. At this first exhibition, the system was analog and local, the public contributed greatly to the experience, several different kinds of food were shared.
