Munti analtu (Tall mountain)
Munti Analtu means “Tall Mountain” in Aromanian. The work is a video installation combining a poem with two monitors, bringing together a landscape observed and a landscape reconstructed through memory. The work centres on the blue hour, the brief transition between day and night when the fading light transforms the mountains into dark, almost two-dimensional masses. In this moment of transition, the landscape appears to shift between the physical and the imagined, resembling a theatrical setting. The installation brings these two states into relation: the lower monitor presents a photograph of the actual landscape, while the upper monitor shows a performance for camera in which the landscape is recreated through memory and imagination. In the video presented here, the performance component of the installation is shown independently. The mountain moves between place and image, presence and recollection, becoming something experienced as much through the body and the mind as through direct observation. The poem and the performance extend this ambiguity, allowing the landscape to become a space of memory, transformation and projection.
