Living room IV/ The loud sun

The Loud Sun / Living Room IV is the fourth and final work in Ilektra Maipa’s Living Room series, a series of camera-based performances developed during the COVID-19 quarantine. Set within the confined space of the artist’s living room, the work transforms the domestic interior into an imagined landscape. Through movement, gesture and spoken poetry, the familiar space becomes a site of displacement, where everyday reality gives way to a more ambiguous and dreamlike environment. At the centre of the work is the figure of the sun, imagined as a presence that observes, remembers and longs for what it has failed to witness. The poem moves between the sun, the mountains and human experiences of the night, creating a shifting perspective between the landscape and the bodies that inhabit it. The Loud Sun / Living Room IV was presented online in February 2021.
