Immobilized Bodies

"Immobilized Bodies" is a multimedia installation that explores the dynamics shaping our relationship with technology in hyperconnected societies. The piece questions how we have come to take for granted the presence of objects that not only direct our gaze but also constantly observe us. How do we coexist with objects that learn from us to then generate desires? What does it mean that these have become extensions not only of our bodies but also of our memories? How does the digital noise of screens and the constant movement they present to us affect us? We know that the digital devices we use daily allow us to connect and move “without limits” around the world, but what if, at the same time, they are paralyzing our bodies in front of a rectangle of light, keeping us in a state of weightlessness, a free fall of which we are unaware? We must not forget that, although algorithms simplify many tasks for us, they also tend to oversimplify complexity and omit the nuances that characterize life.
