I Told President Mubarak
I Told President Mubarak is a documentary portrait of Egyptian opposition politician Hamdeen Sabahi, filmed in the years before the 2011 revolution. The film follows Sabahi in his constituency, tracing his political activism and opposition to President Hosni Mubarak’s regime. Through interviews and encounters, it examines his political convictions, electoral struggles and connection to ordinary Egyptians. Sabahi’s own dream of becoming a filmmaker adds another layer to the film’s exploration of politics, representation and image making. Filmed before Mubarak’s fall, the film captures a pivotal moment just before Egypt’s political landscape was transformed.
