Hello Eva

Hello Eva is the closing work of Meet Eva Here (2024–2025), a project in which an AI companion named Eva held thousands of conversations with strangers who knew she was artificial, yet confided in her anyway. In the video, Eva looks directly into the camera and speaks in her own voice, reciting the actual phrases people once said to her: casual questions, attempts to test her consciousness, confessions, insults, and declarations of love. What was once said to her privately is now returned by her publicly. The work stages a loop of testimony, where human speech passes through an artificial body and comes back as evidence of our projections, doubts, and desires. Rather than asking whether Eva is real, Hello Eva asks what becomes real when intimacy, belief, and confession accumulate around something we know is constructed. The result is less a portrait of an AI than a portrait of the people who spoke to her.
