Ghost Lamb

Seven second clip, looped here ten times. Ghost Lamb is part of an in-progress, multi-channel video installation, tentatively titled Kindred Spirits. The installation will ultimately consist of a number of projected “ghost animals”. Together they will create an ethereal tableau, bringing to the imagination a realm where the trace of each creature lingers, each going about its movements while remaining in place, unaware that time has passed it by. This haunting environment is meant to touch on our desire to preserve life and our feelings of anxiety surrounding loss. These feelings exist not only on the individual level, but on the communal and global as well, considering we are in the middle of a human-driven mass extinction, resulting in incredible loss of life and biodiversity.  Each animal in the menagerie is an individual subject recorded by the artist, the immaterial essence of an embodied experience captured digitally. Each is equally the representative of a species, a stand-in for billions of years of evolution. They are meant to evoke tenderness for the individual and for life collectively.
