ELECTRonNIC WATER

The expression of this sensual experience tries to relate the visual flow with the pulse drawn in the geography of soundscapes. This work tries to highlight the importance of water in our lives and the need to preserve it, both as a cultural object as a vital object. Although water covers three-quarters of the Earth's surface and is a component of the human body in the same proportion, we are so immersed in the technology that we often forget that we are part of nature and that the future of the human being as a species depends on its preservation. Water is a good conductor of electricity and —in contact with your eyes—, this work aims to produce a little tremor in your aesthetic and ecological conscience: water is gold. TECHNIQUE The images are filmed and edited with no further post-production than the eventual utilization of black and white, and the time manipulation of the frames. What may seem as visual effects (some sparks propagating into vertical lines and solid colours) are nothing but the result of a defect in the camera lens; a defect that was eventually sorted out in the following model of the same brand (an error might lead us to a little finding; it came in very handy for the synchronisation with the sound samples and glitches]. This quest tries to emulate (never to the letter) the theme of the acoustic planes, and to follow the variations suggested by the sound pitches and frequencies. The images are taked with a small photographic camera at various locations: the Atlantic Ocean [Rías Baixas], the Cantabrian Sea [Gijón] and the Mediterranean Sea [Málaga]: the three waters surrounding the Iberian Peninsula.
