The creators representing the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela at this 59th Venice Biennale were selected because their proposals—despite differing in their artistic approaches, the mediums used in each case, and the practical outcomes of their distinct processes—share a common thread. We find that they converge in their use of the body, the artist's own body, as a mediating agent; one that is even affected by circumstances that become the defining factors or meanings of the artworks
