Drifted Memories

'Drifted Memories' explores the medium of memory through movement in a digital body. Practicing dance for years, Ren sees dance as a way to hold onto memories and emotions. However, Ren recognizes that memories, much like a spontaneous dance, are fleeting and elusive. To capture this, she motion-captured her freestyle dances and then transferred to a digital avatar, which constantly flushes water, similar to an overflowing phonograph. Through this artistic expression, Ren portrays a melancholic scene that trying to hold onto memory's fluidity might be as elusive as trying to contain water.
