DIVA DOWN: The Very Short Life of Girl Pretty

DIVA DOWN: The Very Short Life of Girl Pretty is a short film created for ashes2ashes. It follows Girl Pretty, a Chinese-made Barbie knockoff brought to life when I place the ashes I received inside her. I introduce her to modern life through matcha and a smartphone, but she quickly becomes obsessed with screens and spirals into madness. ashes2ashes is a global, collaborative art initiative started by Kelly Burns. The project begins with an artwork made by one person, which is then intentionally burned. Its ashes are passed on to another artist, who uses them as material to create a new work. That artwork may then be burned again, allowing the ashes to continue travelling from artist to artist.
