Direct Relationship Between Plantations and Our Lifestyle | Hicham Khalidi
Hicham Khalidi is the curator of Eyes Open: New Perspectives on the Colonial Film Heritage at Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam — an exhibition built around colonial film archives, the bodies they captured without consent, and the Western comfort they helped produce. We met him in Amsterdam at Eye Museum to talk about what it means to work with archives that hurt, why he refused to select artists in the traditional sense, how sound turns footage into something you can't look away from, and why in decolonial scholarship modernity and coloniality are not cause and effect — they are the same thing.
