Artist- Nandita Basak Title- COVERED Duration- 9 min 38 sec Medium- A studio performance art In this work I am covering my remaining body parts after clothing with the word "COVERD". The concept of "covered figures" pertains to how women's attire and physical presentation are influenced by cultural and religious norms. Understanding women's representation and experiences in India requires a nuanced appreciation of the country's cultural diversity. Women's roles and status are shaped by a complex interplay of historical, religious, regional, and socio-economic factors, leading to varied experiences across the nation. Despite progress in many areas, challenges remain, and ongoing efforts are essential to promote gender equality and empower women across all strata of Indian society.
