Cached Spirits
Cached Spirits, single-channel video Installation, 00:03:23, 2026 Cached Spirits trace residues that persist and accumulate through labor, deletion, and forgetting. In Korean folklore, Dokkaebi are said to emerge from objects that have been used for a long time; this work extends that concept into a digital environment. Data that remains after use—screenshots, stored images, and deleted files overlaps and circulates without fully disappearing. My Dokkaebi emerges at the point where these digital residues repeat and accumulate. It is not a character, but a condition formed through the aggregation of what remains. The installation includes two thermochromic chairs that respond to body heat, producing traces that appear and gradually fade. This process reveals disappearance not as an end, but as part of an ongoing transformation.
