Cabaret BIZARRE 1920 TORINO PRIDE

TORINO PRIDE Cabaret Bizarre 1920, the weekly event that reinterprets Weimar-style Sexy Cabaret, sheds light on the sad temporal parallel between the 1920s and our present, both post-pandemic, between two world wars. A time of crisis that gave rise to an Anti-Prohibitionist Cultural Brothel and a safe space open to all. Every Thursday, a different theme and guest list alternates, including cocktails, talks, performances, exhibitions, videos, and shows. These events bring information, social interaction, and dissemination in an irreverent way. The RoughDiveBar in San Salvario is a site-specific location for the project, as the venue's walls were once the foyer of a porn cinema in the 1980s and, in the 1920s, the first Italian revue theater, which gave birth to Isa Bluette, the first showgirl to bring the catwalk to Italy from Paris and to discover figures such as Totò and Macario. Like the old café chantantes, Bizarre, a safe space for unprejudiced gatherings, has become a vibrant and rude cultural hub. After all, if Henri De Toulouse Lautrec painted prostitutes, it's because he lived with them in a brothel... Bizarre also gave birth to the spin-off RAVE ESISTENZA, the first continuous B2B TO SHARE DJ party workshop, where the console becomes a platform open to the clubbing scene without hierarchies, supporting club and rave culture as the ultimate act of peaceful dissidence. Bizarre is a political manifesto written with the audience between gin and tonics and cigarettes, a hub that lays bare our dark times, mocking their murderous superficiality. A team effort, both with the venue and its staff, a site-specific venue, and with the young collaborators who are growing in their profession with Bizarre, Samuele Saponetto and Luca Soncin. Bizarre is an evolution because it is built Thursday after Thursday thanks to a sense of community.
