Boiling Fur: Combray

Boiling Fur: Combray is a three-minute audio-visual collage built from Midjourney-generated imagery composited into dense, overlapping motionscapes — sometimes six simultaneous layers deep — and scored to a sound collage composed in the weeks following September 11th, 2001. Conceived in January 2026, the film is a present-tense work — a response to now — that finds its language in the past. Non-narrative and without dialogue, it moves through the American visual unconscious: television sets, domestic interiors, cold war iconography, the mushroom cloud. The images feel remembered without being specific — synthesized from collective visual memory rather than captured from life. Where Proust sought lost time in the texture of sensation, Burroughs found it spilling out as a sinister black mist — boiling, toxic, alive. Boiling Fur: Combray simmers in the space between.
