Biological Soup

In this artwork, I explore the inner state of a traditional artist at the moment of transition — a state shaped by the rapid emergence of AI. The work focuses on the emotional and psychological experience that arises when long-established artistic values are suddenly destabilized. Fear, irritation, and doubt are treated here not as weaknesses, but as natural responses to a shift that affects authorship, effort, attention, and identity. The metaphor of metamorphosis — drawn from the biological process through which a caterpillar becomes a butterfly — serves as the structural core of the piece. Inside the chrysalis, form does not evolve smoothly; it dissolves, reorganizes, and temporarily loses definition. This “biological soup” becomes an image of the present moment in art, where previous forms no longer fully hold, and new ones are not yet ethically, culturally, or emotionally resolved. The work deliberately avoids offering answers or solutions. Instead, it dwells in the in-between state, where transformation is inevitable, but its outcome remains uncertain. By articulating this inner tension, the piece aims to legitimize the emotional experience of artists who find themselves navigating this transition.
