Behind the Masks

Masks of Intimacy invites the audience to step into an interactive system of friendship, family, and love. Through gesture and facial recognition, participants are assigned masks that translate their presence into visible identities. Each pair of masks presents dualities within human relationships, including flaunting and jealousy, sacrifice and dependence, control and submission, and protection and pain. Rather than simply expressing inner emotions, these masks construct forms that can be recognised and accepted as real. Through the metaphor of the mask, the work examines the fragile boundary between appearance and truth in intimate relationships. Identity is not revealed but produced through interaction and perception, inviting reflection on how desire, vulnerability, and connection are shaped and understood.
