Assolo Performance (2024) The performance ASSOLO arises from a profound urgency: to reflect on the meaning of freedom, its fragility, and its constant questioning. The action begins with my body curled up inside a 450-liter aquarium – a transparent, confined space. Around me, other performers slowly begin to fill the tank with water, a methodical and inexorable gesture that, over the course of about thirty minutes, leads to the complete submersion of my body. The wait becomes charged with tension: how long will I be able to resist? The performance is based precisely on this suspended time, on the waiting and the held breath. It is an act of resistance, a gesture symbolizing rebellion against present-day oppressions: invisible prisons, social emergencies, abuses that limit both individual and collective freedom. ASSOLO is also an invitation: to look at what surrounds us with more empathy, to acknowledge the struggles of those who do not have the privilege of defending their cultural identity. It is a silent, submerged cry that stands against resignation and reminds us that every denied breath speaks of a stolen freedom.
