Among the Living

The work begins with my archive of living fish: skin, scales, water, reflections. A living code. Then — layer by layer — digital processing, transformation, co-authorship with AI. I call this digital symbiosis. The viewer sees a stream of fish. All of them have passed through AI. But in the beginning, there was a living code. I don't know if we can still tell the original from the copy. Perhaps all these fish are simulation. Perhaps one of them is alive. Or perhaps none are. The question is not the answer. The question is whether we notice the moment of substitution — and what "alive" even means when technology has learned to simulate it.
