Advice from a Stranger

Advice from a Stranger is currently on exhibition in the official Nauru Pavilion as part of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. The film was also selected for Best Music Video at the Miami Sci-Fi International Film Festival and PopCon International Film Festival. Created for Federale's song Advice from a Stranger, the animation developed from an exploration of the song's themes of faith, redemption, and human fallibility. Drawing inspiration from The Garden of Earthly Delights, the work reimagines Bosch's fantastical landscape as a stage for an unlikely confrontation between innocence, chaos, and transformation. The song's momentum led us toward the language of classic monster movies, but with a twist. Rather than a giant monster, we chose a garden gnome as our unlikely hero. Set loose in Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights, the gnome confronts the bizarre creatures and terrors of the Hell panel, battling through a landscape of temptation, punishment, and absurdity. Equal parts comedic, unexpected, and heroic, the diminutive protagonist ultimately overcomes Bosch's nightmares and restores order to the chaos. Blending collage animation, art historical references, monster-movie spectacle, and absurdist humor, Advice from a Stranger reflects Little Richard's Almanac's ongoing interest in bringing together the sacred, the strange, and the playful. It remains one of the collective's most ambitious and celebrated works to date.
