Unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP)

The UAP playlist on CIFRA brings together artists exploring how belief gets built and staged in the digital age. All are working within the strange, over networked world we're living in right now. We're living inside too many stories at once. Declassified files, deepfakes, conspiracy threads moving faster than fact-checkers. A digital network built to spread contradiction. In 1995, an alien autopsy footage convinced millions they were watching something real. On August 7th, 2026, the U.S. released another tranche of declassified UAP files. As the artist Mike Kelly once wrote, these are images of faith, not documents. All this adds up to narrative chaos. Not the absence of information, but too much of it, released at scale, with no way to tell which parts are true.
