Postsexuality

Postsexuality

Sexuality is not a fixed or stable concept; rather, it's fluid and dynamic, shaped by culture, technology, and personal experience. This playlist gathers works exploring the possibilities and limitations of sexuality, as well as its connections to the body, environment, and society. "Deadly Charm of Snakes" by Angelika Markul documents the 2020 World’s Largest Rattlesnake Roundup and the Miss Rattlesnake Charmer Pageant, questioning human actions' nature and morality and examining the relationship between violence, beauty, and sexuality. "Waiting for Earthquakes" by Moon Ribas is a dance piece exploring the interaction between earth movements and cyborg Moon Ribas, who senses earthquakes in real-time through a sensor attached to her feet. The artist delves into the connection between sexuality and seismology, and the potential of technology to expand our senses and emotions. "Mudskipper" by Despina Charitonidi features the artist donning a ceramic mask inspired by amphibious fish, creating a mythical creature inhabiting an eerie lake. The piece plays with ideas of animality, hybridity, and sexuality. "Bodies Floating into the Land" by Despina Charitonidi is a performance reflecting on biodiversity protection in the Mediterranean Sea and the impact of climate change on life forms. The artist contemplates the vulnerability and resilience of all "sea bodies," and the role of sexuality in adaptation and survival. "ERFAHRUNG" by Maresiy Ivashchenko depicts a naked girl, a woman in a police uniform, and a pair of hands with a loaf of bread in a rural setting. The artist explores voyeurism, exhibitionism, and power dynamics mediated by the camera and mirror.
